It is home to herds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs. Close to Periyar National Park is the Periyar Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in India. After breakfast, proceed for a day tour of Kovalam. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees. Kovalam has three beaches separated by rocky outcroppings in its 17 km coastline, the three together form the famous crescent of the Kovalam beach. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. You will visit Thiruvallam Parasuraman Temple, Lighthouse Beach, Kovalam Beach, Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium, Hawah Beach, Vellayani Lake, Velli Tourist Village and Samudra Beach.
